Australian Dance Week Morning Tea

Jodie Griffiths Cook.jpg

Our popular networking morning tea is back during Australian Dance Week. With special guest speaker ACT Public Advocate and Children and Young People Commissioner, Ms Jodie Griffiths-Cook.

From 1 August 2024, amendments to the Human Rights Commission Act 2005 make it mandatory for all organisations that provide services for children and young people to commence implementing the ACT Child Safe Standards Scheme. Jodie and her team have been resourced to support organisations to implement the Scheme and will talk with us about what this might look like for organisations and businesses like yours. If you have any questions or ideas about what might be useful for you, Jodie and her team would be pleased to hear from you on the day or whenever you might like to contact them.

We do hope you can join us.

The national Ausdance network has made a landmark submission for Dance to the National Office for Child Safety in response to its Child Safety Annual Reporting Framework consultation paper.

The national Ausdance network has championed ‘Safe Dance’ since 1990. Currently, improving safety in dance environments, particularly for children, is a key priority for the network.

The National Office for Child Safety’s proposed child safety annual reporting framework aims to encourage and support organisations through capability building to implement good practice child safety policies and processes to embed cultures that prioritise the best interests of all children.

We are delighted to present this special workshop specifically for schools with the incredible Peng Hsiao-yin (Grace) from Dancecology Taiwan during 2025 Australian Dance Week.

Self-Portrait of Dance Film
In this workshop, participants will learn how to film an original and creative self-portrait video in the form of dance film: the power of using body language and cinematic skills to express yourself. Through the creative process, Peng Hsiao-yin, will guide the participants to design or choreograph movements and gesture to express themselves, and film the choreography with professional filming techniques.
