National Folk Festival – dance

Diversity of Dance

Dance is a wonderful social activity and a vibrant element of the National Folk Festival Program.

In 2014 the National offers both spectator and participatory dance activities with special attention given to ensure accessibility for all levels of dancers from those just starting to get involved right through to the more experienced. Workshops for NEW dancers are highlighted in green on the Program Grid and provide opportunities for those with little or no previous experience in either the style or dance in general to gain some entry skills.

Over the weekend there will be a number of dances in styles as diverse as Bush, Cajun, early Australian, Tango, Bellydance, Irish, Euro, Contra, Scottish, Swing and more. We even have a morning Zumba world dance fitness class. Festival patrons of all ages are very welcome to join in and experience the fun and diversity of dance.
