Island by James Batchelor and collaborators

published on 15 April 2014

Island is a new contemporary dance performance and installation by James Batchelor and collaborators.

Island is a multisensory experience, combining dance with interactive architectural design and live sound composition.

Island is a utopian experiment, an abandonment of the myth that is human progress and a rejection of the language that veils our perception of space. Movement, sound and structure will form new ways of describing the chaos of our world.

Direction and Concept – James Batchelor
Architect and Design – Ella Leoncio
Sound Design – Morgan Hickinbotham
Performers – James Batchelor, Bicky Lee, Amber McCartney

This project is supported by the ACT government through Arts ACT, the Canberra Theatre Centre and Dancehouse through the Housemate Performance Residency.
