2013 Annual Report

published on 31 March 2014

2013 Annual Report cover2013, Canberra’s centenary, was an incredibly exciting and rewarding year for dance and dancers in Canberra generally and especially for Ausdance ACT. We were right in the thick of the Centenary, producing for the very first time in Canberra the Australian Dance Awards – with the terrific support of the ACT Government’s Canberra 100 project and a raft of other government, corporate and private partners. We also provided valuable auspice services for Centenary dance projects described in detail in this Annual Report.

Throughout 2013 Ausdance ACT also continued to deliver under our current 5 year ACT Government supported business plan, responding to the ACT ARTS Policy Framework, released by Minister Joy Burch in July 2012. We did all this better than ‘on budget’, with consistently high standards of dance artistry and development achieved.

Ausdance ACT members are active dance creators, dance teachers, dancers and dance audiences. Our membership has representatives from all ages except the very young. It includes a number of Life Members, who are people who have performed pivotal roles in establishing the organisation and who have made significant, and in some cases ground-breaking, contributions to the development of dance in the ACT. Many of the photographs of individuals in this report are of members and auspice activities are by members.
